It was also in Dubai that she began studying yoga, which she finds it to be a useful path towards an answer to the question…
Who am I? Ko wai au? by Tonya Russell
I believe change is possible and that consciousness raising and education are key parts of the change process when working with people. For me, consciousness raising and education starts with me, it extends to my family and flows into my personal and professional life.
This belief is inspired by the Dali Lama who says “if you want to change to world first try to improve and bring about change within yourself. That will help you change your family, from there it just gets bigger and bigger”.
On an everyday level I practice “being the change I want to see in the world”. The key word here is practice. Practice is not perfection. It is about doing your best with the resources you have at the time. As Maya Angelou says “when you know better, do better”.
“Know better, do better”
“To know better” requires a level of honesty with self, reflection, an openness and readiness to change. This is where a coaching and yoga come in. Providing you with the time and space to reflect on yourself, your family, your practice, your clients, your goals, the tricky bits and the very, many ways forward to create balance and enhance life. In industry words; this translates to, self care, locating oneself, models and theoretical frameworks, solution focuses, strength based and reflective practice.
